The Business Committee is made of up Maple Leaf business owners. Its charge is to meet regularly and represent business community interests to the Maple Leaf Community Council.
The Communications Committee works with Donna (another volunteer) on our quarterly newsletter and Jason (a volunteer) on our website. We really need additional volunteers to help us communicate better with our neighborhood.
We have a wonderful community garden near 103rd and 5th. This committee lead the way to making that garden a reality. This committee is also responsible for various gardening programs throughout the year.
Land Use & Transportation
The Maple Leaf Land Use & Transportation Committee (LUTC) is our brain center for land use, zoning, transportation, and pedestrian safety issues. They specialize in helping Maple Leaf residents respond to land use and transportation issues.
The Maple Leaf Community encompasses 4,000 homes and businesses. Becoming a dues-paying member is one of the easiest and best things you can do to support the community council does. The Membership Committee is responsible for acquiring new members and reaching out to existing members at the annual renewal.
Public Safety & Emergency Preparation Committee
This committee works on strategies to help keep members of the Maple Leaf community safe.
In 2009, Seattle Public Utilities started the process of converting the open Maple Leaf reservoir into a pair of underground water storage tanks with a new 39-acre park.
